Ibd Sufferers: You Can End the Struggle

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis eight years ago, and I was told that I would likely struggle with flare-ups for the rest of my life. I heard stories of other sufferers who had to eventually have their colons removed, and I became determined to not become part of this statistic. I was prescribed a daily medication that helps manage my condition, and although I don't like taking pills, I realize I need it to keep my colon healthy. I still experienced flares, so I began an elimination diet recommended by my doctor and found my "trigger" foods. I have now been flare-free for two years! I created this blog to help remind others with IBD that there is hope. You can end the constant struggle if you work with your doctor to try different methods of controlling your disease.

Don't Let Your Ailments Slow You Down: 3 Ways To Keep Working

One of the difficulties with continuing to work as you get older is the problem of disguising your aliments. It's a tricky problem. you didn't want your coworkers to know that you are suffering from any sort of ailment, but you also don't want to have to work with difficulty and a limited mobility. So, this article is designed to help with some problems that might arise and which you might not want your coworkers to become aware of.

A Walking Stick As A Cane

If you need a cane to help you walk and remain steady, but you are not too keen on your coworkers seeing you use a walking cane, then you do have options. The best alternative is to use a walking stick. These are used by hikers and "eccentrics", and don't have the same negative stigma as a medical walking cane. They come in wonderful colors and they collapse, so that once you are in the building you can collapse the cane. During the winter, no one will take notice. And during the warmer months, you can affect the attitude of someone who uses a walking stick for regular walking. It won't be seen in the same light as a regular cane.

Nutrient Dense Meal Substitutes

Another problem that you might encounter is a lack of nutrients. Many regular people can make do with just a regular lunch, but if you need more sustenance (such as a diet that requires your food macros delivered at specific intervals) you need to construct a nutrient dense meal plan. The problem with this sort of plan is that you can't just sit down and eat several large meals during the day without your coworkers noticing. The easy solution is to get either shakes or bars that are nutrient dense. The bars or shakes can be used to supply all of the vitamins and minerals and protein that you need for the day, So pick out a bar or shake and then  plan to take that during the day.

Very Discrete Hearing Aids

The worst thing that can happen during a meeting is for someone to say something and for you to not hear. The easiest way to solve this problem is to get a very discreet hearing aid. If you are worried about the visual appearance, don't sweat it. The current hearing aid designs are nowhere near as cumbersome as the last generation hearing aids devices you might be familiar with. The new models can be auto-adjusted and also controlled with your smartphone. This makes using them very simple, as your coworkers won't have any reason to suspect you are using a hearing aid.
